Partnerships

NACADA works with different partners in its effort to bridge the gap of knowledge about drug and substance abuse. Children and students know more about drugs than their parents and teachers respectively hence the need to bridge the gaps between:

  • Students / parents
  • Students /teachers

The Media

The Media is expected to take a leading role in the campaign against drug abuse. NACADA uses the media to mobilize the public. This is done using the audio and visual media. Every event organized by NACADA is covered by the press.
The media also acts as custodians of the youth by empowering and insulating them against Drug and Substance abuse within and outside learning institutions.

NACADA is also involved in training of journalists to give them the necessary skills in reporting and writing stories on Drug and Substance Abuse.

Categories of journalists trained includes:

  • Faith based
  • Under 30 years

Educational institutions

Preventive education campaigns organized for different educational institutions.
These include:

  • Primary,
  • Secondary
  • Tertiary Institutions.

In September 2005 and February 2006 NACADA participated in the declaration of Daystar University as a drug free institution. We intend to encourage replication of the same in different Institutions of higher learning.

  • School barazas are normally organized by NACADAA countrywide to bringing schools together in close proximity. We also get prominent professionals to talk to them on effects of drugs to their perfect bodies.
  • Education Authorities
  • Kenya Institute of Education collaboration.- mainstreaming of the drug Abuse in   the curriculum
  • Training Heads of Education Institutions. Primary, Secondary and Tertiary.
  • Training of organizers of co-curricular activities; drama, music festivals  composers and adjudicators.

Religious organizations

NACADA works with Umbrella Religious Organizations. Workshops are held with religious leaders drawn from various religious organizations. They are in turn expected to use these organizations as the focal point in the war against drug abuse in Schools and churches.
