Appointment of Director Public Education and Advocacy

January 18, 2020- The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Yvonne Olando as the Director of Public Education and Advocacy. Ms. Olando brings vast knowledge and experience in drug demand reduction evidence-based interventions and programs. She will lead the public education and advocacy, counseling and rehabilitation, and regional coordination departments.

Ms. Olando is a Clinical Psychologist and is a Certified International Addiction Professional (ICAP111).  In addition, she is a Tobacco Cessation Specialist (CTTS-MAYO, USA), a Global Drug Demand Reduction Trainer (UNODC), and a Global Master Trainer, Universal Treatment Curriculum (Colombo Plan). She is a World Heart Federation Emerging Leaders Fellow.

She worked as a consultant at the World Health Organization as the Regional Expert on Tobacco Cessation and The Colombo Plan as an Addictions Expert. She was a Part-Time lecturer at the University of Nairobi. She has worked in rehabilitation centers, outpatient programs, and hospital settings.

Ms. Olando is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nairobi. She holds an MSc in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelors in Social Sciences (Psychology Major) from Moi University. She also holds a Certificate in Global Tobacco Control from John Hopkins School of Public Health (USA), a Diploma in Chemical Dependency from SAPTA, and a Diploma in Public Relations from Nairobi Institute of Business Studies.
